President PTI GB Khalid Khursheed Appointed as Organizer of Insaf Student Federation and Youth Wing Nationwide

President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Khalid Khursheed has been appointed as the organizer of the Insaf Student Federation and the Insaf Youth Wing across Pakistan, including GB and Azad Kashmir.This was announced in a notification by the central secretariat yesterday, as per the directions of the founder of PTI, Imran Khan.

Sources claim that on Friday in Islamabad, Mr. Nyazee and federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur visited Mr. Khan to finalize the PTI candidate’s name for the position of GB chief minister.

By a margin of 1,719 votes, Mr. Khurshid defeated Abdul Hameed Khan of the PPP to become a member of the GB Legislative Assembly from the GBLA-13 (Astore-1) constituency.

Khalid Khurshid, who was born on November 17, 1980, in the Rattu neighborhood of Shounter tehsil in Astore, completed his matriculation at Public School and College in Gilgit and graduated from Queen Mary University of London with a law degree. He ran as an independent in the 2009 election from GBLA-13, Astore, but was unsuccessful. In 2015, he lost the election once more.

On July 28, 2018, Mr. Khurshid became a member of the PTI. He subsequently became the head of the party’s Astore-Diamer division chapter.

Mr. Khurshid is a member of the prominent Astore district political family. In the early 1970s, his father, Muhammad Khurshid Khan, was on the GB Advisory Council.

In the meantime, Prime Minister Imran Khan is anticipated to go to Great Britain on Monday to take part in the new chief minister’s oath of office.

Speaking to PTI members in Gilgit, Mr. Khurshid expressed gratitude to the prime minister for recommending him for the position of chief minister.

He urged the members of the GB Assembly to cooperate for the good of the populace. He declared, “We have to put in a lot of effort to live up to the expectations of the people who voted for us.”

Political party leaders, social welfare advocates, and members of the civil society have welcomed Mr. Khurshid on his appointment to the position of chief minister.
