Palestinians celebrate in Al-Aqsa Mosque after the Iranian attack

Many were eager to point out that Iran’s retaliation is the first time in modern history that a nation other than a resistance movement has launched such a punitive attack on Israeli military bases. This includes the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and al-Quds (Jerusalem). The Iranian response has been welcomed by Hamas-led Palestinian resistance organizations.

In response to the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus and the killing of multiple commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps there, the resistance movement based in Gaza issued a statement stating, “We, in the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, consider the military operation carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the Zionist entity, occupying Palestine, as a natural right and a deserved response.”

Hamas also noted that “the peoples of the region have the right to defend themselves against Israeli aggression,” calling on all parties, both regional and international, to assist the Palestinians and their fight against Israeli occupation.

The committee of the joint Palestinian Resistance group then praised the “necessary Iranian response” in a statement, stressing that “it is an act of self-defense and an inherent right of the Islamic Republic guaranteed by all international laws” in response to the Israeli aggression against its consulate in Damascus.

According to the statement, “Operation al-Aqsa Storm initiated a new reality and glorious historical moments.”Those who have been subjected to the barbaric Israeli onslaught for almost six months in the Gaza Strip rejoiced when they saw Iranian drones and missiles approaching Israeli military targets up close.

Hundreds of displaced Palestinians are refuge inside the al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the blockaded Gaza Strip, and a social media video from the hospital shows them rejoicing as Iranian rockets fly overhead toward Israeli military targets.

Inside the grounds of the revered al-Aqsa mosque, Palestinians in occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem) celebrated Iran’s reaction to the Israeli occupation.

Other popular social media videos depict a sizable gathering of people singing anti-Israeli slogans in front of the mosque’s golden dome following reports that Iran had launched a significant counteroffensive.

In addition, it was a restless night in Ramallah and other occupied West Bank communities, with joyful Palestinian crowds congregating in the streets and pointing upwards as Iranian missile trails could be seen. The celebrations continued into the wee hours of Sunday am.

Popular Palestinian activists in the occupied West Bank posted recordings of Iranian drones and missiles hitting Israeli military targets on their social media platforms.

They also applauded the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps’ response, with several pointing out that no other nation in the area had ever addressed Israeli atrocities before, much less one of such extraordinary proportions.

In retaliation for the government’s April 1 fatal attack on the consular department of the Iranian embassy in the Syrian capital of Damascus, the IRGC launched a volley of drone and missile attacks against the Israeli regime late on Saturday.
