Pakistan to Launch Safe City Projects in Dasu and Chilas for Enhanced Security of Foreigners

A meeting on the creation of the Safe City Project in Dassu and Chilas to guarantee the absolute protection of Chinese and international nationals was presided over by Minister of the Interior Mohsin Naqvi.

In order to find a comprehensive plan in this area, the minister established a special committee and gave them a 15-day deadline to provide their final suggestions.

This time, the minister claimed that the safe city project in Dassu and Chilas had been established at the prime minister’s request. He placed special focus on Islamabad and Lahore’s implementation of the initiative based on the model of secure cities.

He emphasized that the goal of the Safe City project is to provide surveillance and security for the entire region, going beyond the simple installation of cameras to include a system that is outfitted with cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence technologies.

The minister went on to say that Islamabad Police will offer all type of assistance in this respect. He gave the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Islamabad Police, and Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) instructions to work together to create a thorough strategy in this respect.

The minister also established a committee including the WAPDA representative, RPO Hazara, and IG Islamabad. He stated that they must guarantee the safety of Chinese nationals who are contributing to Pakistan’s growth and development, promising to do all within their power to do so.

Federal Secretary of Interior Khurram Ali Agha, Chairman of the WAPDA Lieutenant General (R) Sajjad Ghani, Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and Inspector General of Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi were present at the meeting. The meeting was also attended by the Additional Chief Secretary Home, the Additional IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the RPO Hazara by video connection.
